Congratulations to Small Planning Grant Recipients
Congratulations to the Winter 2015 winners of the Detroit URC's Small Planning Grant Program, which supports the establishment of new community-academic partnerships and new collaborative health research efforts in Detroit. Recipients of this grant competition (our fifth consecutive round) are as follows:
- TITLE: Forming a collaborative health research partnership to increase effectiveness and reach of chronic disease prevention and management services among Detroit elderly
- PARTNERS: Susan Zanley, Director, Nutrition, Health and Wellness Unit; Detroit Area Agency on Aging; Mary Janevic, Assistant Research Scientist, University of Michigan School of Public Health
- GOAL: Build a strong collaborative research partnership among DAAA, CMCD and other representatives of the community of older adults in Detroit; explore research interests shared among partners; and identify and address capacity building needs.
- TITLE: Community-Based Recovery and Reentry Research in Detroit
- PARTNERS: Dwight Vaughter, Chief Executive Officer, Self Help Addiction Rehabilitation, Inc. Juliette Rody, Chair of the Department of Health and Human Services, University of Michigan - Dearborn Urban and Regional Studies
- GOAL: Engage in partnership formation efforts to enhance an active community-university partnership with Self Help Addiction Rehabilitation, Inc., Detroit Recovery Project, Michael Johnson, and Positive Images as well as other substance abuse treatment centers and dedicated re-entry programs.
