um3Detroit Event on May 3, 2017
A special event to showcase research and learning practices advanced in and with Detroit is being held on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan.
Titled "um3detroit," this interdisciplinary gathering brings together researchers, educators, and students —from across the three U-M campuses (Ann Arbor, Dearborn, and Flint) and Detroit-based organizations— to share and strengthen our connections to Detroit and each other.
The event, which was featured in a University Record article, will include the following activities:
- Remarks by U-M President Mark Schlissel and City of Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan
- Lightening talks illustrating diverse approaches to collaboration and partnership
- Three-campus networking around Detroit-oriented research, teaching, and learning
- Interactive opportunities to co-create a community of scholarship
- Dialogue about faculty and student engagement in Detroit
- Breakout sessions on Detroit-related topics, including:
- Community Perspectives on Partnership;
- Educational Outreach;
- The Detroit School project;
- Foundations working on Detroit;
- Poverty;
- Sustainability;
- Policy Research; Migration; and
- City Center Planning.
- Music by the Detroit Sound Conservancy
- Breakfast, lunch, and beverages —made in Detroit!
