Institute for Population Health is pleased to invite you to attend the community action network (CAN) meeting. During this CAN meeting, attendees will be watching a documentary called, The Mask You Live In. This documentary follows boys and young men as they struggle to stay true to themselves while negotiating America’s narrow definition of masculinity. One of Institute for Population Health, Healthy Start program goal is to reduce disparities in infant mortality and adverse perinatal outcomes by Strengthening Family Resilience. Please join us for a discussion on Manhood and Masculinity. The discussion objectives include:

1. Identify the characteristics of the man behind the mask.

2. Education on the dynamics of unhealthy masculinity.

3. Describe how our culture's narrow definition of masculinity could be harming boys.

4. Discuss how coaches and healthy adults can support youth.

Research shows that compared to girls, boys in the U.S. are more likely to be diagnosed with a behavior disorder, prescribed stimulant medications, fail out of school, binge drink, commit a violent crime, and/or take their own lives.

What: Premier the documentary called, "The Mask You Live In" followed by a discussion
