Videos of Detroit URC Partners Speaking at Fall 2013 Tri-Campus Provosts’ Community Engagement Seminar

This fall the Tri-Campus Provosts’ Seminar took place in an effort to initiate a multi-university collaborative among the University of Michigan, Michigan State University and Wayne State University.

The tri-campus seminar was endorsed by Provost June Pierce Youatt at Michigan State University, Provost Margaret Winters at Wayne State University, and Provost Martha Pollack at the University of Michigan as an opportunity to further collaborative efforts on community engagement across the three universities.

As part of the seminar Dr. Barbara Israel, Director of the Detroit URC and Professor of Public Health at the University of Michigan was invited to speak about the Detroit URC’s 19 year-long partnership to promote health equity in the city of Detroit.

Angela Reyes, Executive Director of the Detroit Hispanic Development Corporation and a founding member of the Detroit URC Board was also asked to speak at the event to share her community perspective on the benefits and challenges of engaging with universities.

Both presentations are filled with valuable insights about the benefits of community-based participatory research and how the work of the Detroit URC promotes public health and well-being in the city of Detroit. The presentations were recorded and are available to watch online.
