The Detroit URC: fostering health equity through
community-based participatory research (CBPR)
for more than 20 years

Fall 2015

The Detroit URC 20th Anniversary Symposium: Advancing Partnership, Research, and Equity is announced in this CAR-Net e-newsletter. Other highlights include news about Barbara Israel's "Game Changer" recognition; the Healthy Environments Partnership's successful "Pick Your Path" video contest; Kimberlydawn Wisdom's Unsung Hero Award; upcoming community-engaged health equity workshops and opportunities, and more.

Summer 2015

This e-newsletter is chock full of good news about our spring Community-Academic Networking Social, the new CBPR Partnership Academy, winners of our Small Planning Grant, and more. It also highlights two spectacular creations by the School of Public Health (SPH): 1) a new video all about the Healthy Environments Partnership (HEP) and their Walk Your Heart to Health program and 2) SPH's Findings publication (Volume 30, No. 2), which features a two-page spread all about the Detroit URC!

Spring 2015

This issue of the e-newsletter announces the Detroit URC's new CBPR Partnership Academy; invites Detroit community leaders to apply for the Center's small planning grant program; and recognizes the Healthy Environment Partnership's newly published research article about their Walk Your Heart to Health Program in Detroit. It also congratulates Detroit URC Co-Director Rich Lichtensetin for earning a respected education leadership award.

Winter 2015

The Detroit URC kicks off its 20th year with a simplified e-newsletter and an exciting announcement about the new, nationwide CBPR Partnership Academy. The e-newsletter also announces a pilot "Community University Research (CURES)" grant funding opportunity from the Michigan Institute for Clinical & Health Research (MICHR).
